Yes with a clarifier.

You need the docking station to get serial ports. Or you could do the usb to serial thing that was suggested earlier.

There are still plenty of notebooks that come with a 9 pin male serial port.

Sager Notebooks

There are others but I'm too tired to look for them. ;)

My week old Dell Inspiron 510m has one serial port. I'm sure many other Dell models have one too.

I think it's pretty new... I just got it in August...

August??? That means they don't sell it anymore!! LOL

I know one of the new Dells still has one. None of the IBM's have one built on though if you take an x31 or x40 and add the ultrabase (still portable), then you can have a NATIVE serial port on the x's.

dell's inspiron 1100, 51XX don't. IIRC anything higher than that does.

You would be suprised how many business's need a serial port on a laptop to work with specialized equipment in the field. We had a customer come to us in shock when he received his new work laptop and it didn't have the serial port. His device would work with a special usb converter from the meter company luckily. Other devices won't. Without a serial port how do you pre-configure or interface with smart network devices like cisco routers and superstack switches without web interfaces or when there is no web access for the ones you can configure that way.

serial porst are still very much needed. Usb to serial adaptors have latency issues which crop up every so often when trying to do real time communication.
