I know for sure that Ricoh and Toshiba both make them, I'm sure there are others. Never used them, so I have no clue how they are.

Yes, I just got one made by Toshiba and it is working great. You can find that particular one at www.tccomputers.com

It is not quite as fast as dedicated burners, it is 4 write 4 rewrite 24 CD rom and 4 DVD. I have heard that faster ones are available from other manufacturers, but for me, speed was not that much of an issue, I just wanted a quality drive at a quality price. This one can be had for around $190...

I've nearly duplicated my entire audio CD collection (70%+ of 130 or so discs) with my Ricoh MP9120A 12x/10x/32x CDRW + 8x DVD combo unit. I'm loving every minute of it.

me got the ricoh mp9060A (6x/4x/??), its faster then the Toshiba onne, also in the cnet tests it put out 1k a sec less then the hp 8x burnenr, go look at the review at computers.com
I like it, average 10 min burnning, its ok since i dont burn a lot , and dvd is good...also it a fast drive

and now they got the new 12/10/?? verson, a lot faster

i have the ricoh 12x/10x/32x with 8x dvd combo unit.

I am very happy with it. It has just link (burn proof). Have burnt about 10cd's and all come out great at 12x.
I would definately recommend this combo unit.
