I'm looking for a 4-door, diesel, short wheel base. I can't seem to find those qualities together. It doesn't have to be new model, but I'm not interested in anything over 10 years old.

Garage'd.

Nothing you can't make yourself, just need some sheet metal, a sawzall, a lot of jb-weld, and a Jetta TDI.

Garage -->

You won't find that anywhere. Diesel typically comes in HD-only trucks, which will 99% of the time be the long bed variant.

O RLY? In the 1500 series?

for sure the 2500, I know you can get a 1500 crew short bed, not sure if it comes in Diesel, but it likely does.

Looks like the only SWB diesels are the 3500 series. And it's nasty, starts around $40k

Edit: Whoops, just checked - you can add the TD to the 2500 series, but looks like it's a $6k increase.

yeah, the combination of the crew cab and diesel trends towards a commercial vehicle and you will pay accordingly.

PACFANWEB is right - Ford Dodge and Chevy all make a Diesel, 4 door, 6" bed in every trim level imaginable....

If that can be called SWB i don't know they are around 150" while a F150 short bed reg cab is 140", you decide.

Look for 2500 series from dodge or Chevy or F250 from Ford...

I'm not sure why one would care about WB other than transverse angle - then Ford is only choice since their frame sits highest.

I don't know where you get your prices but Ford F250 CC SB PSD is 36K MSRP and Ford Dealer will sell it for less than 30K.

Dodge's 2500 CC Shortbox CD is is 39K and Dodge Dealers won't let for out bid them.

LOL

I'm keeping an open mind as I've heard they were going to do this quite a while ago. If they have been able to stick to their price point, they would sell fairly well. Their trucks would probably be very rugged if their tractors are any indication... so I know that they can produce a decent product...

Dude it's fugly and $22k will be a pretty tough pill to swallow for that and from a third world unknown car maker considering you can get truck of the year F150 CC right now for ~16K with hardball negotiation. I won't say no chance but it will be a up-hill battle to say the least. If they lowered price by say $10,000 and put a 10 year warranty on it then I think it could work.

Fugly? Yes. However, when I first heard rumors about this being designed for hte US, the price was much much lower. At the price you just quoted, fat chance. However, the small diesel pickup is a niche that hasn't really been filled in the US since the S-10 used an isuzu engine back in the 80s (not that they were that good back then). At 22k, this thing will not sell. However, if priced below $15k, it most definitely would if it lived up to its promises, mechanically.
