Has anyone heard of the AMD 761 boards (my case= ASUS A7M266) having any problems with the athlon xp cpu? I read that its luck sometimes getting it to run correctly with windows on an A7V133 so I had the same concern about the A7M266. Its BIOS 1006. Thanks

There is no problem getting the A7M266 to work with XP CPU's. You already have the latest BIOS. All you need to do is set the "Slew rate" to "1". Just shut down, change out the chip, reboot and enter the BIOS to make the change. You'll find that and more on this site. Just do a search. That is all you need though. It works fine but most people don't change the setting and have trouble because they firgure the latest BIOS handles XP CPU's by itself. Oops!

Before I replaced it with a 8K3A, my 2000XP worked just fine with my old 8K7A+.

No problems with a DFI AK76-SN or a Epox 8K7A running a 1GHz Morgan. Just update to a newer bios that has XP support.
