Do all your turn signal lights have to be yellow in FL? LIGHTING IS NOT RICE!

I was just wondering for my car. The turn signals are yellow in the back and front and sides. I was thinking about replacing the bulbs with white or blue. My friend has white bulbs for turn signals in the back on his BMW and they look nice! I was just wondering if it's illegal in Florida or something. What about front ones and sides?

That is the most freakin annoying thing ever. Just what I like to see when I'm driving at night - a bright white light flashing in my face.

Of course they're illegal.

Edit: I mean they're fine. Especially the blue ones. It's really cool if you set it up so that your turn signals flash blue real fast just like a police car. Then when there is a real police car behind you, you can turn on your turn signals and he'll turn his on too, so the two of you can look cool together.

Blue is definitely illegal.... only police cars are supposed to have blue flashing lights... not sure about white though...

My car does not have any yellow in the rear. I think that is a European thing. So, in short. No.

But...I think they can only be red or yellow.

You've seen red turn signals - most trucks (and actually, prob most american vehicles) have red turn signals. Amber turn signals are more common on imports but IMO they're an excellent idea.

Red rear turn signals are getting more and more common on imports as well... just look at the new Accord coupe or the new Acura TL...

I believe this is not only governed by your local state ordanances, but on the federal level as well (DOT).

Turn signals facing the rear should (including the signals now imbeded in some SUV mirrors) be either white, red, amber, or yellow in color.

Turn signals on the front (or the sidemarker) should be white, yellow or amber. I don't believe you can havea red bulb or a blue bulb facing foward because it imitates the lights on a police or emergency vehicle.

The department of transportation specifies white as being a clear bulb, not the blue-coated-"hyper-white" bulbs.

Dude, it's either yellow or red. If any other colors were legal, believe me, you'd see it all over the place.

And depending on where you live, cops *love* to pull people over for that nonsense... it's like a free chance for them to harass some punk kid.

LOL! Yea, ok. I am just going with white because I know I have seen white turn signals on some european cars and my friend has never gotten pulled over for it.

When you say white, do you mean a clear bulb, or one of them "hyper-white" bulbs??

No.

Edit: If the sidemarkers don't blink, then I dunno.

Every car I've ever owned has had red signals, except the Mustang. That one has amber.

As has been stated, blue is definitely illegal. It's like a "pull me over free card" for the cops. White you 'might' get away with, but cops will probably pull you over for that too.
