I'm pulling my hair out trying to configure this 3Com 810 DSL router.

My ISP tells me that it doesn't do any of the following (and/or that the defaults of 0 will be sufficient):

PPP or RFC 1483 (is there another protocol?)
ATM Virtual Path Identifier (VPI)
ATM Virtual Channel Identifier (VCI)
ATM Service Category (UBR, VBR, CBR)

Protocol is determined by the ISP (ie PPP, bridging = rfc1483, PPPoE, etc.).

VPI & VCI values are used in at least two places, one when your modem connects to the line provider & two when the ISP connects to the line provider. The one your modem needs will almost certainly be the same as every other user with the same DSL provider. For example, Qwest DMT circuits use 0,32, CAP circuits use 1,1. The interface between ISP & line provider is different, you will not have access to that information. Your ISP should know how to get it if they need it.

;) Well, after getting hung up on once, and thrown in circles 3 times, I finally got a tier 2 tech line. After another 45 minutes, I talked to someone who was able to give me the info I needed in less than a minute.

I hope it works...
