I tried the 71.24, it increase my performance by about 8% from the last official driver. I noticed it make the water in HL2 yellow though so I went back. Do they all have side effects like this.

to be honest, all of the 7x.xx'es i've tried (uh..all of them) have some sort of issue with HL2/CSS. If it's not yellow water, they have the white artifacts on de_aztec.
i use the modded 67.66'es off of guru3d.com and they are great, but they dont have the extra performance of the 7x.xx'es.
your choice, performance or good image quality.

Not all the Forceware 7 series drivers experience problems. Additionally not all people have experienced the yellow water.

I would try drivers in this order:
Valance Studios 71.20X (A, B, C depending on video card)
Forceware 71.20
Forceware 67.66
Forceware 66.93
Forceware 67.03
Forceware 66.81

Any lower and your problem does not lie in your drivers.

Always remember. They are beta drivers, which means they are being tested. It's always suggested to use the latest stable release.

diffenately. in my experence the 67.66s have been as stable as the latest official release.

well, what else would cause these issues then? if i install any 70/71 series beta i get these problems. not everyone has these issues, they seem to be limited to the 6xxx cards. try the drivers in that order though, in case you can get the 70's to work because they have quite a large performance increase.
