Do all Sound Blaster Live Value cards do 5.1-channel dolby digital?

Anyone know? I'm trying to figure out if I need to upgrade my sound card for Doom 3. I've been google searching for a while now and can't find a concrete answer. thx

No. Some do, some don't.

Well, sort of. None of them encode to DD, but if you have a gold or yellow connector on the back then you will be able to do an spdif passthrough. Those ones also handle 5.1 analog signals as well. The really old ones only did 4.1

Honestly, is creative really the big fish anymore? I remember hearing that turtle beach released a really good card that was about 1/2 the price of an Audigy...

To answer your question though, look above🙂 The only reason I use my platinum 5.1 anymore is because I paid $200 for it at the time and i'll be darned if I'm gonna not get my money's worth.

WHat kind of speakers/setu pare you using?

If that setup has a digital optical input or analog 5.1 input, get a Fortissimo III 7.1.
