Do all slot adapters regulate voltage?

Max Power

I am wondering if any slot adapters on the market actually regulate voltage.

I am trying to upgrade my friends Gateway G6-450, with the Intel Tabor II motherboard. The board only supports 2.0 vcore. I thought I could use a slotket like the MSI MS-6905 Master and manually set the voltage to 1.65. I asked at Gateway's newsgroup and was told by someone there that the only slot adapter on the market that actually regulates voltage is the PowerLeap PL-iP3 .

Do the other slotkets still allow 2.0v to reach the CPU? Here's another question, if the other slotkets(inculding the MS-6905) don't actaully regulate the voltage then what are they doing?

BTW-the system boots up and runs Windows fine with a FCPGA PIII 750 on an MSI 6905 Master slotket as well as a retail slot 1 PIII 750. The BIOS and boot screen recogize the CPU as a PIII 750, also cpuZ and WCPUID correctly identify the processors.

Any clarifications would be greatly appreciated.

Mad Max you are correct. The Iwill II will only supply the normal voltages your MB supports, probably 2.0 volts The Powerleap will allow lower voltages, but it about $50. It's better to get even a cheap ($90) motherboard and a Duron, then put more $$ in the old MB. Been there, done that. R.

I'm not quite sure...BUT:

I use the Asus 133mhz capable card on my P2B-DS board (440bx, slot1) which is dual processor.

I am running two 800mhz processors on two asus converter cards, and I can regulate voltage from 2.0 down. I'm running one processor at 1.65 right now, another at 1.7.

Good luck either way!

I have the Abit SlotKET III and I have the voltage settings on my BX board below 2.0 V, but I left the settings for the Slotket on auto and my BIOS adjusted them. I had to flash a new BIOS for my board to enable the lower voltages, but they are there now. My understanding is the ASUS and Abit solutions both allow voltage settings.
