do all processers in xp line have a different serial number? can a company tell if the shipped a cpu?

i ordered a cpu from one place & peled off their orange sticker (130-140 degrees frightened me)

it was toast.... they wont take it back

can they id if i ordered from them?
 
The first AMD Processor i got, i took off the organe sticker. Than burnt it up too..

I sent it back to newegg and got a replacement.

E-mail the place where you bought it. They should swap it for a good one within a 7 day period if it is OEM or 30 day if it is retail
 
The orange sticker your peeled off is their code they put on it so they know they sold it. If you remove it, most places won't take it back.
