What the heck is toxic about a PDA/GPS?

i'm not sure about the garmin, but dell had an issue not too long ago

their x50/x50v line of PDAs included a small amount of lead. in order to comply with european regulations, the newer x51/x51v line of PDAs had the lead removed, even though the form factor and hardware is almost identical
