do all of you actually run SLI?

Anubis

No Lifer
if not why the hell do all of you buy SLI mobos?

spending $50+ more then you need to and losing a PCI slot

A fool & his money are soon parted.

That means there are a lot of fools around here 😉

A great example of SLI = money wasted.

Considering how much money AMDCrazy will spend on his SLI mobo, & 2 6600GTs, he could have gotten a non-SLI mobo, & one 6600GT.
He then could have sold the 6600GT & gotten a 7800GT for about the same price as what he is planning to do.

The thing is though, what he is planning to do would have been pwned by the 7800GT he could have gotten.

SLI = teh waste.

If you want the best of the best duh ofcourse you will have to run sli . I mean if you have the money hell go for it and make the fastest computer.Sli is not really a waste if you think about it. Let say you say sli mobo and only one 6800gt and later hardcore games come out you could buy another 6800gt to increase performance without buying all new stuff. But thats only my opinion

I am not running SLI and really see no need to. Buying two low-end cards and running SLi is just retarded and I cannot justify two 7800GTX's. Buying an SLI motherboard when buying a single card is also stupid unless you plan on adding the other card very shortly.

Nah, they just don't think.

It has been proven many times that buying a non-SLI mobo with single card & then selling single card & getting better tech/newer card is cheaper.

That being said, i guess for those who dislike having to sell an older card, or for those with $$$ to burn like yourself 😉, SLI makes sense 😛

With the 7800GTX >SLi 6800U/GT, there is no point for SLI 7800GTX.

Overkill if you ask me, and extra money for an SLI motherboard.

Maybe if your like Ronin who gets free hardware from that room they lock him in, go for it.

$1000 for video cards?

No thanks.

I ordered one because I wanted the firewire and MIDI/joystick port.
I didn't want it because it robs the computer of PCI slots. I also made the choice to go with an AGP cooler that will take rob one PCI slot as well. So, I'll only have two left. It's a good thing there are plenty of features on the motherboard.

Anyway, here's my selection criteria. Either one of the brand names: Asus, Abit, DFI and MSI. Since I got a good deal on a socket 754 3400+ 2.4 GHz, I decided to go with a mobo with a PCI-E slot so I could upgrade the video card easilly.

I'm likely to build a whole other machine for dual core or even quad core, whatever. By then I guess I might go with WinVista if there are enough cracks to make it work.

Your attempts are getting weaker by the post. At least you provide me something to laugh at. That, and the more you do it, the easier it is to have you dealt with. 😉 Keep it up, I'm rooting for you!

My comment, btw, had nothing to do with free hardware. It has to do with planning ahead. If you're smart, and still budget conscious, then it's perfectly acceptable to do exactly that.

As far selling older cards, I don't do it, so I guess that puts me in the former category, n7.

The only thing laughable is you and the stack of video cards you posted which belonged to your company, LOL.

Oh, and your claims about how you think you live somewhere more expensive than me, LOL again.

Sell old hardware you got for free?

Sounds kind of sleezy, didn't an Anand reviewer get fired for doing exactly that.
