Do all misdemeanours require that you show up in court?

What typically dictates whether something is a misdeameanour or an infraction? I can't figure out the difference based on what I am reading! 😛 Are any types of speeding tickets a misdemeanour (including excessive speeding but not reckless driving?)

Basically everything that's not a felony is a misdeameanour, right?

If you're not sure, I'd stop buy the cops and ask them sometime.

Reckless driving is a misdemeanor so is unlawful speeding (25+), Lots of friends in college got misdemeanors for underage drinking on campus and all had to show up in court. Those charges were also thrown out but that isn't your question. You are a criminal so you have your day in court.

But aren't there three levels?

Infractions
Misdeameanours
Felonies

Infractions are just fines AFAIK
