I have an X2250 Copier/Scanner/Printer and this thing's cartidges suck. They're a third of the price of the darn thing, they clog if I don't print once every three hours, and the printer can't print a crisp, clean page if it's life depended on it.

Am I just unlucky?

I miss my dot-matrix. :(

So do I. Our dit matrix live for 4 years, from 87-94. The only reason it died was that I (in my infinite ten year old wisdom) decided to print a few almost all black pictures of spaceships out. The damn thing started smoking. It was in the fall (october, probably) and I remember my dad yelling from upstairs "Well, I guess you'll have to wait until christmas to print anything out" :p

if it was from '87-'94 it'd be 7 years, not 4 - innit?

You can't expect the Night Crew to do math at 3am. ;)

Haha...numpad typo. I thought 7 and hit '4' on the numpad. That's what I get for not reading my own posts.

I wouldn't say that... My $40 HP 3740 that I bought when I was spending 3 weeks in a hotel does a darn fine job. It's slow and noisy but prints beautifully. Especially when I plopped another $20 for an aftermarket black cartridge.

I have never seen a lexmark printer that doesnt have some kind of quirky annoying ass problem of some kind. On top of that, the quality sucks horribly on the lower end models (even for low end).

People don't buy Lexmark printers because they are expecting high quality. People buy Lexmark printers because Walmart sells them for a third the price of real printers.

Which is the reason I own one.

We have tons of Lexmark T612 printers at work and they are all older but they keep chugging right along. We also have some S1650s

I'd stay away from them.

My HP 932c and 940c have both seen at least 3000 pages, and except for the 932c occasionally feeding on an angle, they both work fine. I am almost thinking of getting a colour laser instead of spending money on cartridges though.

For the most part yes, but we have some heavy duty lasers in the office that require minimal maintenance and work like mad... T616's and T632's to be exact.

Lexmark laser OK ... Lexmark inkjet cruddy, overpriced ink, cheap components.

They feel cheap, but the one I have (all-in-one printer) does its job for me well.

I have two Lexmark printers that I was selling in my for sale thread but I'd be willing to just give them away to a worth ATOTer. All I ask is that you send me a few bucks for shipping. You can see pics and more details in my for sale thread. If anyone's interested, PM me.
