Or, is it me? I've tried Morpheus, WinMX, a few others. All one and the same. Slow as my mother in law to leave the dessert table.
All I want is to download a couple of Jackson Browne albums. Is that asking too much?
 
The speed has nothing to do with the program itself. Either you're downloading from slow people, or you have a crappy connection yourself. What do you consider "slow"? My connection isn't exactly the speediest around, but I don't think it's ever taken me longer than about 20 minutes to download a song. Even if you take longer than that you really shouldn't complain considering you're getting something for free!
 
Amen Shooters! It's all free so don't complain 😛 I'm a morpheus user myself, and although it's a bit buggy sometimes it gets the job done, you might just have to weed through the bad servers before you find someone hosting the song you want with more bandwidth to share it. 🙂
 
we got spoiled with Napster,cuz you could automatically tell it to only download from faster sites if you wanted

No, I'm implying that you read the last line of Shooter's reply.
However the idea of either paying for things or not complaining when doing something illegal isn't fast enough for you, seems to elude you.
I download MP3s, and I'm as grateful as hell when I'm just able to FIND what I'm looking for, as most people, it shouldn't matter how fast it goes unless you're in that much of a hurry to get your "Jackson Browne" funk on.
 
I use Morpheus and eDonkey... both can be slow and frustrating but what do you expect with so many people doing the same thing as you?

Its free, so you cant complain. Nothing is better than something for nothing.

I just picked up the following item from ZDNet; might want to reconsider Morpheus for a while...

MP3 fans using the Morpheus file-swapping service risk having their personal details exposed online, according to security experts.
Morpheus in now the most popular file-swapping service on the Internet. The security hole means that the personal details of millions of people are now at risk of exposure. According to the Web site of MusicCity--the company that created Morpheus--more than nine million copies of the client have been downloaded.

MusicCity Networks could not be contacted for comment.

A new security hole has been discovered in the peer-to-peer file-sharing application, which allows a random list to be generated of people using the service. A malicious hacker could then access the computers of those users and copy files from anywhere on their hard disk. Usually, Morpheus only allows access to files placed in a specific folder, like other peer to peer file-sharing clients.

The privacy risk was reported to BBC News Online by a group of security experts, who are choosing to remain anonymous. They have described the exploit as "very dangerous", and have warned that this could make every Morpheus user's computer available to anyone who wants to access it.

The Morpheus peer-to-peer application allows users to search for digital media, such as music and videos, on the MusicCity network. The service also allows content providers to deploy third-party digital rights management technology to protect their copyright works. This protects the copyrights of artists involved, and has helped it to prevent a Napster-style shutdown.
 
PowerEngineer, you should read up on a Slashdot article from Thursday or Friday I believe. The Slashdot users came to the conclusion that all this "bug" is, is the webserver running on port 1214 that Fast Track uses to allow downloads(they use HTTP), and initially mine data for the supernodes. It can be a problem if you're dumb enough to share your whole HD, but in that case, you probably deserve what you get.😛
