Do all dealership service centers suck this hard?

I dropped my company car off at the dealership today to have it worked on. There is an odd noise coming from the driver's front tire. Sounds like a wheel bearing going out, kind of a low squeak that intensifies when I turn left. So I say to them, "I've got a noise, coming from the driver's front, can you check everything out. And while you've got it on the lift, can you rotate and balance the tires and do an oil change?" No problem, the people were very friendly.

So I ride along with a coworker all day, come pick my car up at 5:00 pm. They have had my vehicle for about eight and a half hours.

"We couldn't find any noise, Mr. Humphreys."

Uhh - what? I have to crank the stereo up over halfway so I can't hear it while I'm driving. These guys didn't hear it at all? So I insist on taking the guy on a short ride with me. I roll the windows down and take off. At first I'm thinking to myself, Jeez, the damn thing isn't doing it. Maybe the tire was loose or something, and that was the squeak. Stop at a stop sign, go, and whu-bam, it starts doing it. I pointedly accelerate up to about 40, then coast for a block. The look on the guy's face was priceless. "Wow, I can't believe we didn't hear that before!"

So I've got an appointment next week. :|

The Dealer is the best it gets since they work on your specific car all day long! You ever try taking it somewhere else? I've seen my fair share of hack-jobs. Like when I had my tranny replaced a few years ago. (Not fun stuck in first gear on the freeway!!)
