I own both a Kenwood True-X 52x & 72x cd-rom. I notice that at times they have problems reading cd-r's i've burned. I've also noticed that the cd-rw I burned them with has trouble reading it as well sometimes. What causes this?

Kenwoods have been known to have the problems you are having just about any other brand should work fine. Stay away from the Kenwoods, that must be why they quit making them.

I have a generic, loud, crappy 52X CD-ROM in one of my machines at home that I got for free after a MIR, and my three-year-old daughter plays games off of CD-Rs all the time because as soon as she gets a new one I make a copy of it and put the original away so that if she messes up the CD it's just a copy and I can make another one. Never had any problems.

my creative 52x sucks with scratched cds...it spins really fast and cant read the data, then it slows down and it reads for like 2 secs. then it speeds up again and cant read, then slows down again and reads....takes forever, that i just use my 24x reader on my CDRW drive...fast spinning cd roms..sheesh....they need to get smart...lol, but when i read new cds, or clean cds, boy does it read fast !:D
