Is it just me or do these kind of ATA cables go bad really easily? I've gone through so many of these, when other cables seem to last forever.

Also, all 80 conductor cables are good for DMA 66/100/133 right?

You have to be careful pulling out the heads. Other than ripping them off, I have never had them go bad. All cables with the one blue end work at all speeds, I believe those are all the 80 pin ones. Someone please correct me if i am wrong.

Not any quicker then 40 conductor cables in my experience.

(Actually only 40 of them conduct the other 40 insulate and prevent crosstalk). But yes 80wire cables are good for anything up to ATA133.

Had to replace my cable after trying to scan my HD. Could not even format/quick scan any HD with the cable. I first thought that the computer had a bad IDE interface or driver. It could have been the cause of loosing 80GB data on a 120GB Western Digital. Changing the cable w/ a new one fixed it. :frown:
