DNS with down syndrome?

I've gone through three routers now, and reformatted. So the problem I describe can't possibly be routers or the computers.

Yet, going to simple sites like Yahoo.com or the forums, or CNN, I get 404s. Hit refresh two or three times, and the page comes up, at normal speed.

Could Charter's DNS cause this? If so can I order the router to use a different DNS, or must I switch ISPs?

If you need to confirm your theory you could always use another ISP's DNS server.

Again like n0cmonkey has put it. It's unlikely to be DNS related and I doubt an ISP's DNS would have so much problem without all their users going up in arms!

Verizon's DNS servers: 4.2.2.2, 4.2.2.3, 4.2.2.4, 4.2.2.5, 4.2.2.6

Notive a trend? :p

Use them only for testing and reference. ;)

My DLink router was formerly looking to "0.0.0.0" for DNS.

I changed it to the Verizon numbers, and all is well.

since all is well now and n0cmonkey stated you can use those for testing, contact your isp for a list of their dns servers. most isps do you have more than 1.

What area are you in? There may be a charter user who can provide you with the DNS...
