Is this the proper way to set up DNS servers? i am just checking.

Domain controller / DNS server 1:

it's primary dns server is set to itself, and the secondary one is the 2nd DC/DNS server.

Domain controller / DNS server 2:

it's primary dns server should be set to itself and the secondary is the 1st DC/DNS server.

I never really thought about doing it like that, I think most people just put DC1 as the primary and DC2 as the secondary on DC2 just like all of the workstations.

At work our DCs primary DNS is set to itself and the secondary is set to our Operations Masters DC. The Operations Master is the first DC created in your domain.
