Hi
I've installed a ADSL modem (on USB port, an Alcatel Speedtouch)
recently. The ADSL connection is working properly, and ie too.
After that, i've installed a network PCI card (3COM FAST ETHERLINK)
on the PC. I've tryed to connect it to another PC, without success.

But the real pb is there: after disconecting all, and uninstall the
network card, ive tryed to connect to internet. The connection with
provider is ok, but when trying to go with IE, i have always a
DNS error, even for good url as www.google.com....

Anyone has an idea???? My system is Win98SE

Thanx
Nico

you need to get your dsl DNS information from your ISP and input it into your network configurations, go to control panel -> network ->(the name of your network adapter) ->the tab that says DNS, and input the info, let us know how it turns out.

I ve uninstalled the ethernet card yet, and protocol and card in
control panel>network. The only card which left is:Modem ADSL and
the card named 'Carte d'acces a distance' in french, perhaps
"far acces card" in the us version, with NDISWAN protocol for
modem and TCP/IP for the far access card...

In this, i ve tryed to enable DNS but i must to give a host name,
a domain name, and an IP adress... the IP adress i have it,
i think (it must be the primary DNS in connection config no??),
but the other parameters???

Thanks
Nico

you need the information from your internet service provider, I think, I use a router, and I can make up my host name because I am only connecting to my router, but if you are connecting directly to the outside, I think the host name matters, just give your ISP tech support a call and they should be able to fix you up.

Ok.. thax a lot.
It works now, but after reformatting the system;
and installing the network card before the adsl modem and connection kit.

Thanks for help
