Orgasmic.

Is it just me or is this shaping up to be a sick (in a good way) year for PC gaming?

Do I want the collectors edition.

Pros: On 1 hand, it is one of the longest vaporware releases to ever actually come out. It has become a huge part of video game history.

Cons: On the other hand, the publisher is banking on saps like me spending as much as possible on the game without even playing.

What does 'going gold' mean? Does that mean it's ready for release?

Basically yes. Means the "Gold" master copy has been printed. This is then used to make all the little clones that are put into the boxes and shipped to retailers.

It means the game is done, and the "gold/master" discs are sent out for reproduction to build up stock for retail stores. Basically it means the release date is a few weeks off.

Remember that the demo is coming out on June 3rd for those in the early access club. There are 2 ways of getting a code for that - pre-ordering DNF from somewhere (although I don't think this includes Steam yet) OR from owning Borderlands on Steam (standard edition works - don't even need GOTY).

If you own Borderlands, go to the game page in Steam, click CD key then put the code in at http://www.dukenukemforever.com/access.

Anyone else think it's a bit naff that to demo their game you have to purchase it first? Isn't the point of a demo so that we can try a game before purchasing? Are they going to release a demo after the game is out?
