well I installed Linux Mandrake 8 from scratch yesterday. This time I chose the 'expert' option.. I think I installed nearly everything (but I don't remember for sure).
anywho, I am very pleased with this version of Mandrake, it detected my 56k hardware PCI modem perfectly on the first try (I had to enter the COM port as it is in windows during setup, as TTYS4 or COM 5).
HOWEVER, for some really dumb reason, I can't get dnet to run..
first of all, I want to install it so that the normal user (non-root) cannot change options, but can read a log file that it outputs. is that possible?
second of all the problem I'm getting is that after I extract the program, I go to terminal and try to execute it (it's in the /usr/local/Distributed.net/ folder). I get a message something like this:
Cannot execute binary file (or something like that).
I've tried typing /usr/local/Distributed.net/dnetc -install (i've also tried -help, --help, -config, etc), and I've gone to the directory and simply typed ./dnetc (with or without the switches later on, it gives me the same error).
so, did I either install something (or NOT install something), or is there something I could fix without reinstalling Mandrake 8
PS, I'm typing this from cursed windows, becuase I don't want to lose my keyrate!
