If your vehicle fails inspection, you will be allowed a specified amount of time in which to have the necessary repairs made. You will be informed of your deadline for re-inspection by the inspector.
In general, you must have the necessary repairs made and the vehicle re-inspected within the month following the month when your vehicle was originally due for inspection.
However, dangerous safety defects must be repaired and the vehicle re-inspected within 48 hours.
so does that mean if i fail at the DMV, I can take it to an independant inspection center ?

I have it very light (30%) all around minus the windshield.
NJ doesn't allow tint on the driver and passenger doors.
