Over the weekend some friends came over. I let them use the computer. On Tuesday, I noticed Date Manager on my system. Someone downloaded and installed it, dmn! It was Gator-ware. I hate that company (GAIN). Now, I get Gator popups everytime I go to a site that matches the contents of their advertisers.

I followed their instructions to remove it. Goto Add and remove program and remove it. Its gone now from the Add&Rmve programs, but the Ads still popup. Everytime I reboot, I still see Date Manager show up in my Taskbar too.

Hate them (GAIN)!

Remove it from starting up in the registry. Run-regedit-hkey local machine-software-microsoft-windows-current version-run

delete it from there and the from the software list

Or just use Ad-aware.

Yeah, I contacted their support already. Threatened to take legal action against them since this is a virus like behavior. They sent me instructions to manually delete all files and links to GAIN. We'll see if it works.

They've been in so many lawsuits and are currently in a bunch already. You'd be in a long line, and you wouldn't win. Your friend clicked to install the program, that was acceptance.

That's true, I was just threatening to get a quicker response. Besides, the acceptance was not the issue. It was the fact that the uninstall process did not work correctly that was upsetting.
