DMI Pool Data Problem

I've heard this is a common problem, but none of the common cures are working.

I bought Shuttle AK31A mobo w/ Athlon XP 1800+, 512 MB DDR, Plextor CD-RW, etc. The first time I boot up it's fine. I shut down because I forgot to plug in floppy drive. I plug in floppy drive. Now nothing works and I get "Verifying DMI Pool Data..." after BIOS. I have reseated RAM, unplugged ALL drives (hd, floppy, rw), cleared CMOS, and restarted what seems thousands of times. No improvement. Any ideas?

double check the power supply connection to the floppy drive. Some of them are reversed, or you can try reversing it.

Does the computer try to read from the floppy (does the light come on)? Tell the BIOS to use the floppy as first boot device and try to boot from the floppy. Also make sure the ribbon cable is plugged in right. The red wire is pin #1. The floppy should be labeled as to where pin #1 goes which is usually on the left as you look at the floppy from the back.
