I didn't mean I didn't believe it's hosted on Hypermart, I'm just saying that when any normal user goes to the site, they don't have an indication that the popups aren't under Mcowen's control, so it's natural to blame him for it.

It tried to install something for me too. Internet Washer Pro or something like that.

so please lets not blame the guy. it's not his fault. as for the installation of whatever programs, i think it's a problemm on the client side
He chose to use them as his hosting service. Any internet savvy person knows what thoes hosts do to connecting clients.

I'm not trying to like crucify the guy or anything, I just expected better judgement.
I also found the nature of what was going on, very humorously ironic.

there aren't any really good and stable free web hosts now. hypermart is one of the better ones. i have had a site on their for 4 years and it's been very stable, can't say the same for some of the other ones that are more attractive on the surface but went away in a couple of years at most. the popups are only a minor annoyance considering it's free. as for the forced installation of programs... i dunno i have never encountered even a prompt for such things by hypermart

Considering his situation and the financial bind it must have placed on him, going to a free (or low-cost) site that forces pop-ups may have been his only opportunity.

Why not PM him if you're so concerned?

Again, falls back to the main theme. Watch what you get for free. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is!
In the same regard, you can say that, one of the minor annoyances to using systems with no authorization, is a Federal Indictment.

True, to a degree. The monetary "bind" isn't valid here. Seeing as how general hosting costs the same as AT subscription, a cpu, stick of ram, tank of gas.
