I just got an email from Comcast the other day saying I am violating their policies and refering to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Just wondering if anyone else has been getting anything like that from them and what is happening about it.

ISP's tend to send tons of the letters out at the behest of the RIAA MPAA etc al. You are likely being targeted by one of these groups and will be in serious doo doo when, not if they decide to press charges

Not necessarily, many people have fought this kind of thing and won, and sometimes they send these letters as a warning. Just chill with anything illegal if you are in fact downloading illegally.

turn off any file sharing programs you have running and keep them turned off, unshare EVERYTHING, and erase anything you don't have a valid license for or copy of with a program called eraser (its free) and set it to kill, it has a 7 pass DoD wipe and a 35 pass wipe, use the 35 pass one...and quit downloading / sharing illegal content.

From what I've been able to gather they target people who SHARE more so then those who only download, but unless your using some heavy proxy power not even just downloading and not sharing is safe.

IANAL but this seems like a good idea since technically its not a legal case at this point you wouldnt be destroying any evidence
