OK, so I was listening to Live at Luther College today and was listening to Jimi Thing. Towards the end of the song, Dave starts singing a different tune which sounded VERY familiar to me. Low and behold, it sounds JUST like the Pantala Naga Pampa intro from Before These Crowded Streets. Does NE1 know the relationship between the two?

A lot of bands that play GOOD live shows, mix and match some of their songs. Even if they havent released it, they may have practiced it and want to try it out, so they ad another verse to a popular song. It is a good way to slowly introduce a new song.

The outro to Jimi Thing on Luther College is called "What Will Become of Me", which later led to Pantala Naga Pampa. Simple as that.

I was falling always
and now I'm falling this way
what will become of me?
when I'm all far away

I'm spinning down
I'm spinning up
upon this way
wondering what will become of me
when I'm all far away

I'm spinning down
I'm all away
a greater way

what will become of me

Another example is Little Thing, from LC ... it later evolved to An' Another Thing, that is on Dave Matthew's new album, Some Devil.

In later Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds tours, Jimi Thing was often segued into Pantala Naga Pampa but oddly enough that never went into Rapunzel (ala Before These Crowded Streets)...at least as far as I can remember.
