dma66 not enabled by default in win2k?

This website http://defiant.darlington.com/Software/Win2k/win2000_tricks.htm states that dma66 is not enabled by default and that it requires a registry edit for it. Is this true?

by the way i dont mean the standard way of enabling dma on your hard drives in the devicemanager.

by default win2000 does not enable DMA but you can just enable it in device manager. worked for me and everyone else i've heard of.

As far as I know w2k doesn't support ATA100 out of the box. I think it just runs in PIO mode. This problem is fixed in SP2. Not too sure on the ATA66 situation tho. I would believe ATA66 would work.

According to Microsoft's knowledgebase, you have to enable it manually using the registry fix.
