How could I find out exactly what the transfer mode for my ide devices is under Win2k. I would like to know wheather it is 33mb/s or 66mb/s.

THanks.

Right click on my computer, click manage. Select Device Manager, and then expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers section. Right click on the Primary or Secondary IDE channel and select properties from the list there. Click the Advanced Settings tab and then here you are. This section will tell you what mode your computer is running in and what what options you have for changing it. Select DMA if possible or whatever and then close this channel out. Do the same for the other IDE channel and I would restart, even if it doesn't ask you to, think it does though. Check to see if anything changes after the restart.

Don't know about transfer rates and such. Depends on your drive, but I would download the free sandra benchmarks to get a rough idea of where you are at. Notice I said Rough.

Good Luck!

Well I have 2 hd [primary]
1 cdrom and 1 cdrw [secondary]

Both the hd's say Ultra Dma Mode
Cd rom says Ultra Dma mode
Cdrw says Dma mode

One of my hd is ata 100 the other is ata 66. My mobo only supports ata66 so I am assuming they will both run at ata 66, I use a 80 pin cable for these. One is master the other slave.

The cdrom is 50x and cdrw is 8x4x32, for these I use a 40 pin cable.

Windows says my cdrom is Ultra Dma, but it says the same for my hd's...whats the deal?

THanks

there is a screen that flashes during the boot up (ABIT kA7) that is in the form of a chart but it flashes so quickly I can not read anything from it. Is there any was for pause during that screen??
