DMA troubles

I have a slimline DVD for my carputer and for some reason it won't play DVD's or other stuff when I have DMA on. Does this mean that th DVD can't do DMA? IS there any way to get to do DMA? Or any other suggestions?

Derek

is that the only thing on the channel? do you have a zip drive on the same cable? what mobo do you have? have you installed the latest via drivers?

it is primary slave, my laptop drive is primary
no zip drive
can't remember if I have installed the VIA drivers or not, I reinstalled the OS so many times in the last week. If it might help, I will get'em and try.
If i move it to secondary channel, will it help?

Thanks,
Derek

ok, it plays DVD, but not any app cd's. it says windows cannot access the specified device after giving an error that says "<unknown> has caused an error in <unknown>. <unknown> will now close" whats up with that?

Derek

ok, i tried installing something from a network drive and it does the same thing, so I am assuming it is a winme thing. time to go back to 98 or 2k.
