DMA probs Lite-On on Promise Ultra100 controller

I just bought a Lite-On 24x drive and put it on channel 1 of my Promise Ultra 100 controller (from that Maxtor HD + ATA100 controller deal). But, the CPU usage during burning is pretty high; around 50% start to middle, then reaching 100% near the end. How do I turn on DMA mode for my controller? Should I flash the bios on the controller? I can't find revision notes for the different builds of the bios for the controller. I have a non-DMA capable DVD rom drive on the other channel of the controller... help!

the promise driver is programmed to use all devices in their most optimal configuration. Therefore, if DMA is available for that particular device, the driver will use it.
IMO, it's actually best not to connect your optical drives to the controller card, just your hdds!

Hmm... Ok, I will try putting my optical drives on my secondary ide controller on my mobo. Thanks!
