DMA Mode for Slave HD with K7S5A

Interesting...recently installed a TDK 24X burner (master to DVD Drive) and after boot up my second hard drive will only appear in PIO mode, even though it has DMA if available in the drop down above it. I had this problem once before and simply scanned for hardware changes and the drive corrected itself to ultra DMA. No such luck this time. both drives are relatively new 7200 rpm (primary is WD and secondary is Maxtor) Any clues?
