DMA in Windows XP

I tried to back up a couple of my music cd's and they have some skipping or pausing. How can I tell if DMA is enabled for both my cd rom drives? I had this problem when I used windows 98 and turning on DMA fixed the problem.

Thanks

goto the system icon in the control panel. go to the hardware tab, and device manager. double click the primary/seconday/etc ide channel from the menu, and you should be able to select "DMA if available" option from one of the tabs. Restart, and you should be good to go
