DMA in Win98... Windows not booting anymore.

Me and my friend were overclocking his computer to see how high we could get his 600e - cA2 (postes at 901 but memory failed)... anyway, I noticed in windows (back at 600) that none of his 2 CD Drives and 2 Hard Drives had DMA enabled. I checked the DMA mode checkbox and rebooted. Now windows will hang before getting into windows (stays in dos after loading autoexec.bat).

We can get into safe mode, but I cannot un-check the DMA (not even showing in device manager) box cause the drives are in MS-DOS Compatability mode.

How can I get the drives to not use DMA? I've tried everything I can think of.

From what I know, these are his system specs:

250W P/S
Abit BE6-2
P3 600e
128MB PC-133
6.4GB Maxtor
3.2GB Western Digital (I think its WD)
Plextor 8/4/32 CD-RW
Goldstar 16x CD-ROM
SB-Live X-Gamer
G400 Duel Head
D-Link NIC

I think thats it...

Restart and go into the "Step by Step" confirmation mode, don't let any lines in autoexec.bat and config.sys run (hit n). Then as soon as you see the desktop hit "Shift" so that no startup items load. Turn DMA off and reboot.

Or

Try disconnecting all drives but the boot drive, disable DMA for it. Shut down, reconnect the other drives, disable DMA for them.

Or

Reinstall all the drive drivers in Safe Mode. (Remove all the drives from device manager [except boot drive] and it'll reinstall them).
