DMA in win2k! Please read!

I know we've all heard how to enable DMA in win2k but i've done that, and it is still in PIO mode! I have an Asus p3b-f and an IBM 75GXP drive so surely my hardware can do DMA..and it has done it before. When i had win2k server installed it was in DMA mode but now that i have win2k pro installed, the first time i booted up it was in DMA mode then i check today and it's in PIO mode only. I was wondering if there is a registry key to force it to DMA mode? I know i can get DMA mode so it's not a problem. The system is really slow without it so please help! Thanks!

There are combinations of chip sets, mobo and OS that will not support UDMA when you are running an ATA 100 drive connected to an ATA66 controller. The bios may correctly identify the drive but the information does not get properly passed to the OS. The OS will then setup PIO mode. I suggest that you download the utility that IBM has and set your drive to ATA66. I had to do the same for a friends comp and UDMA became available.

Keinspeil is correct. They will remain in pio mode unless you use the IBM ultility switch and set your drive to ata 4.
