DMA in Win 2k

Back in the good ole days with win 98, you could always go in and change whatever settings you wanted, or check and see what they were. Then everyone's need for security hit and hence WinNT and win2k. I really believe that part of the security of these systems is that they hide a lot of the settings from you.

Point being, I'm trying to use PowerDVD on my Win2k machine and I need to have DMA enabled to do so, but I can't find where to go and look to see if it is enabled or not. Where exactly do I look?

in win98 u used to enable under the drive in device manager...

in win2k u enable under the IDE Controller in device manager

Thanks Thanks Thanks

I just kept beating my head against the ole disk drive properties, and it still never appeared. I'll try there tonight.

If you run Intel hardware and have Intel drivers loaded you won't see a DMA option as the drivers automaticly run the drives in the fastest hardware modes available.
