Ok guys, I'm havin a problem here and I hope that you can give me any advice. I have recently bought what I later found out to be a bad batch of CD-Rs which were supposedly rated at 16x but really can only burn at 12x. Well, I found this out after playing around with them for awhile and after getting "Power calibration errors" and a few others that I do not remember. But this only happens when burning at 16x and only with these CDs, so I have found out the answer to THAT problem on my own. But the real killer is the way WinXP (Pro) handles the prob and what it does to DMA. It just seems to turn it off after encountering 6 CRC probs on the device. The TDK website says that its possible to turn DMA back on by either goin to the screen for my IDE ribbon in device manager and turning it on, or if that doesn't work just uninstalling and reinstalling the drive. I have gone in and done both of them repeatedly and even gone into my BIOS and unsuccessfully tried to change it there. Tech support for TDK just copied and pasted the same part from their FAQ that I read and therefore not helping my whatsoever. Just NOTHING seems to be able to turn DMA back on for my burner. It does have the latest firmware (5.32) and worked just fine untill I bought these bad cdrs. Does anyone have any suggestions???? Thanks in advance.
