DLNA server for Linux?

rudeguy

Lifer
I'm currently running Linux Mint and want to set up a DLNA server. Or...just something so I can browse pics and vids on my computer from my Android phone.

With Windows I would just turn on sharing, then browse to my computer from ES File Explorer. I found my computer, my list of folders but I couldn't open any folders.

HELP?

I was using MediaTomb for a while before I setup XBMC. Worked ok. Depends on the TV and what formats it supports, as it's somewhat format specific. Some DLNA servers will preconvert then stream as a predefined format though. There's another one I had tried that did just that, I can't recall what it's called now, but think it was made for the Playstation, so it had the word Playstation in it, if that helps. 😛

I want to stream to my phone.

Sorry I didn't type it in Canadian. :awe:

MediaTomb might still work. Same idea as a TV though, it still has to support the codecs but I'd imagine most phones will be pretty good for that. Actually I kind of regret killing my DLNA VM, I'd be curious to see how it works on my phone.
