Hey all,
- Overview of the problem
I have a Dlink DUB-H7 USB hub that has performed flawlessly until just recently when it suddenly quick working. Turns out, my desktop (Windows XP SP2) is no longer recognizing the hub and I get the "device not recognized" error.
- Full description of the problem and symptoms
I have tested the hub with my laptop and it functions just fine. The hub seems to have power to it from the AC connection when plugged into the desktop but the individual USB slots do not light up or recognize inputs. When plugged into the laptop all light up and everything works.
I also tested the USB ports on the desktop with other devices (usb mouse, webcam) and those seem to function just fine as well.
- Did it work normally at one time, or has the problem always existed?
Up until a couple weeks ago everything on the computer worked fine. I am a little uncertain about the timeline but about the same time I saw a massive temperature spike that caused my computer to shut itself off. This seems to have been caused by the "smartfan" settings on the motherboard malfunctioning somehow and shutting off the cpu fan. I disabled the settings and everything works fine now - except the USB hub. At the same time my USB mouse suddenly was not recognized. it works fine now.
