hey folks...

i have one of these dlink di-804 routers. i don't really know what happened to it, but right now, i can get an ip# from it, but i cannot access its webpage, or ping it. i tried to reset it, but that does not do crap for me. does anyone know how i can login to this thing via the console port? i contacted dlink tech support via email...not too bad, but i hate waiting two days for a reply, with an answer that i already told them i tried (ie - me: i tried resetting it... them: try to reset it from the blue button on front). its like running in circles...two days for each step tho. i also tried calling their tech support. the guy i talked to was like "i dunno...i will have to transfer u to a senior tech...whats a good time to call u?" mofo never called. d-friggin-link...website does not seem to have any info on how to log in via console port either. they tell u its there, but don't tell u what to do with it. i am a little pissed off right now, sorry about the rant. can anyone offer some insight as to whats the deal with this console port. can i log into it via console? if so...any ideas how to do it? thanx in advance :)

I had the same problem, so I sent it back to D-Link. They repaired it for me. Anyway, this is one sucky router. It worked for several hours as a router, then it failed. No matter what I do, it just doesn't obtain an IP from the ISP. I am sure the settings are right (coz' it was working before). I am very frustrated and will never buy D-Link again.

The 804 sucks. I have one and I use it to provide net access at LAN parties. I would be talking to someone on aim and all 10 of us would drop at one time. Then we would all come back online. The guy I was talking to was cracking up about it. He would see us drop all at one time and come back. It's slow too. The web interface loads VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRYYYYY slow.
