I had the 2205 Gigabit switch for 37 months, and it failed today (about 1 month after warranty ran out ). All it does is have the power LED on, and nothing else.

Looking around, the 2205 is about the same price as a netgear, but netgear has only a 1 year warranty, and I saw a Trendnet TEG-S50G, which has a 5 year warranty, and is a bit cheaper than either of the other units I mentioned.

Anyone have any expierence with Trendnet before?
Or is there a better model I should be looking at? I just need a 5 port Gigabit switch.

The TEG-S50G is a great switch...I use (3) of the 8-port versions without issue. They are also highly recommended on this forum.

The wall-warts on many such devices tend to fail over time. They can even put out the right voltage in some such cases. Try another power supply (with the same voltage and polarity) if you can.

The Netgear GS105 can be found on sale sometimes for not much more. It has a lifetime warranty, except for the wall-wart.

Hmm, I missed this one. This is aroud $30 AR.
Thanks for the info.
Too bad it has a weird design (cables + LEDs on the same side? Most people want to hide the cords, so you can't look at the LEDs if you hide the cords.)
