Dlink DGL-4300 Router

hello

can anyone please teach me how to properly block a certain port with this router? im trying to block ports 2300-2399 coz i dont want my workstation from running a certain game that causes too much LAG to other online game.....

Instead of blocking the ports you can lower the priority of the communication by adding a GameFuel rule for those ports.

this is an internet cafe, so even if i un-install the game, specifically Rakion (UDP 2300-2399), people will just bring in thier own installers through USB drives and install it in my workstations. so my choice is to BLOCK these ports used by this game, this way the game will not be able to go online. ive tried setting the priority in GAMEFUEL to lowest(in this case 255), but to no avail. for some reasons, this game HOGs even the LAN somehow. my ping to my LAN Router would reach to about 200ms which is really abnormal. this router seems to have sooo much stuffs and maybe there was a way to do this....

so blocking is my only way for now...

@inlinefive : what is ACL?

Under Advanced>Access Contol you can block specific ports but it needs to be defined for each pc which means using static IP's or the Static DHCP Client List feature. If you want to apply the rule to all connections you won't need to use static IP's or Static DHCP Client List but you will have to create a duplicate rule for every possible IP address. This may be time consuming if you've got a lot of pc's or want to apply the rule for every possible wireless connection.

There is an "Others" setting in the Access Contol Address Type option which the manual isn't too clear on. Maybe that will allow you to create a blanket rule for all connected pc's.

Another possible option is to create an Inbound Filter rule if you know the IP address of the game server.

IMHO, your first job should be to wipe all of those computers clean and set them up as Limited User accounts. Then you don't have to worry about what software people install on them.

the above suggestion didnt work.. still the game can run... ill try upgrading my firmware to 1.7 and see if it fixes things
