DLink 704 Network Connection (Can Connect to INET, but not each other)

Quick question to ask the guru's here. I bought a DLink 704, and my roommate and I can connect to the Internet fine through our Cable modem using it, but we can't see each other.

I've done the typical Win98 stuff.... set the same workgroup, share files, and all that.

Any idea on what I'm missing out on? This is the first time I've worked with a router/switch/hub.
 
make sure you both have client for ms windows installed and last time i had that prob in win9x, i installed NetBEUI and it worked.
