I went to Best Buy to get a 614+ since they were on sale. I installed it and configured it with my pppoe Earthlink DSL connection (wired w/main pc's ethernet card). The router came with the latest firmware (2.18). Everything appears to be fine as I can connect to the internet with my PC.

When I finished setting up the Earthlink connection, I needed to get the wireless connection working. My laptop is a Sony VIAO GRS700 with an integrated Lan-Express 802.11 PCI adapter (standard Windows drivers). I turned the laptop on and it found the wireless connection SSID ?default? with 128bit WEP. The settings for IP and DNS were set to auto. I let the laptop connect to the router and it was showing as an 11Mbit strong connection. However, when I try to use IE I cannot connect to any websites at all since it cannot find a connection.

I?m new to wireless internet and routers. My original network was just wired through a hub (very simple). Can someone pinpoint what I have done wrong?

Well, I ran Windows Update when I first got the laptop to ensure everything was up to date and one of the updates was for the wireless adapter. I'm pretty sure than when I tried it with the updated drivers, it did not work at all. It did not pick up the connection. I had to roll back to the standard windows drivers. Now it picks up the network but the internet doesn't work.

Go to another working machine, get the DNS info and set it manually on any machines not working. Beyond that, remove any security measures until you are up and running. Disable WEP, WPA, MAC addy filtering, ACL's et al.... Get it up and running, then re-implement your security.
