DL-DVD burning is not working...

Ok, i have tried to burn a few DL-DVDs using a Blue Ray Burner (LG, http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16827136137, i didnt pay that price) and EVERY time it has failed and i have wasted a DL-DVD. I have tried many different applications--ImgBurn most recently. What is the problem here? In general, i hate optical media because it sucks but this is just insane. I want to rip out that drive and smash it to pieces. I go through the "verify" process (all apps have that), and this most recent disc passed, but then threw an error. Suggestions?

What brand of DL media are you using and what speed are you burning? I have found the best results I have gotten is using Verbatim media and burning no more than 4X on any drive I have used.

I will try to take the speed down, thanks. Im just using the defaults and memorex media.

I don't think Memorex has a very good reputation. In any case for me, keeping the speed way down does wonders.

Check the LG website for a firmware update. You can also try refreshing the device. Go into the Device manager and uninstall the LG burner. Reboot the computer and Windows will re-install it.

also make sure you have the latest chipset driver for your motherboard

I was having simular issues too. I also use vista, but also have Win7 dual installed.
So I tried burning in Win7, and all went flawless. I think its the vista.
