Once I get a better card (that can keep up with the data rate) I'm thinking of trying one with it mounted inside the traction bar.

I and others enjoyed it. Rather than thread crap, just move on to something you do like. :hmm:

"Shouldn't you be in school?" "Get off my lawn!"

I was drawn to respond because it reminded me of the attitudes in many of my computer classes.

"Hey! Check this out! Isn't it cool?"
"Whats it do?"
"Well nothing but, isn't it cool?"
"Yeah...call me when it does something useful."

This was in an upper level analysis class.

So I showed an example of something that pretty much anyone in this thread can do for $20. Can it be improved? Sure. It was my first footage. Call it a proof of concept that something can be done that is neat, easy, and cheap.

You don't think it's useful to see a vehicle's suspension in action? Do you just lack curiosity?

You're posting on a website that's dedicated to tech hardware. WTF do you expect? That's like going down to a drag strip and asking exactly why they need so much horsepower when 140 is plenty to go get the groceries. It's a hobby. They do it for fun.

On a brighter note, where'd you get the cheap camera? The video is surprisingly clear and the frame rate looks decent for a cheap POS.

I, for one, welcome our new DIY under-truck-video Overlord. Combine that with a side-mount cam and you've got some cool video when going off-road. As you see the wheel stuffing up into the wheelwell you cut to a shot of the spring/shock compressing from underneath the truck. Who need Motortrend.com when you've got overlordtruckvideo.com, right? :D

My 808 cam turned up today! Did a short video of the dash of my car, but it's really zoomed in, and there is no view finder so it's a case of video and hope for the best!

I'll try and do a few interesting movies of dashboard, suspension and other things over the coming days.
