DIY Sprinkler system

I'm thinking of going the DIY route and installing a simple sprinkler system for our backyard. I was hoping to just get one of those 1/4-1/2" (opening) flexible tube hoses and attaching a sprinkler head on it.

Basically, run the tube around the perimeter of the house. Install a head along the way and have it point towards the center of the yard. 3 or 4 heads later terminate the tube.

Is that a good simple approach? Will i lose too much water pressure with this much in a series?

Any help is gladly appreciated.

Thanks.

If I were you i would just go all out with pvc pipe. Pvc is easy to handel, you just need pipes/joints, a can of primer and glue, and a hacksaw. If you were remotley skilled with legos u can do pvc piping. I dont know how much better it is then the DIY kits, but it seems like a more permanent solution...

There's a kit available?

Anyway, i thought about using PVC but the yard has a pretty odd shape and using the flex pipes would be a lot easier to move around - not to mention bury if needed. I didn't want to disturb the grass if i don't have to.
