DIY SERVER BUILD and Security forum?

I would like to build my own server. Can any of you suggest links or any HELPFULL information or links as to how to go about doing this on a modest budget and what components might work well together? Thanks! to all that reply.

Also, would it be helpfull if Anandtech had a seperate computer security forum or do they already have one and I just don't know where it is?
 
What would you like this server to do? Host a website? How much traffic? Do you want rackmount or tower case? etc. On a 'modest budget' the parts for a server are pretty much the same parts you would use for a PC, except possibly the motherboard, drives, and storage controller.

Post network security questions in the network forum and application security questions in the software forum.
